The Best Father’s Day Sweets
Father’s Day is the one day of the year where we are all able to show a bit of appreciation for our Dads and what better way to do so than gift him his favourite ‘tuffees’.
Sweets are an ideal treat to gift your Dad on Father’s Day. As a young boy, I remember being sent to the shops for a quarter of Fruit Salads or a quarter of midget gems on many occasions. We have many of the old favourites here at Retro Sweet Kings and so let’s take a look of the sweets that your Dad is likely Dad to appreciate the most.
Liquorice
First introduced as a sweet in the UK in the 1760’s, Liquorice is even older than your Dad. They don’t come more retro than that. Liquorice is a firm favourite amongst Father’s and Grandfather’s and comes in many different varieties. You’ve got Pontefract Cakes, Liquorice Gums and Poor Benns which are all very similar. Then you’ve got Liquorice Torpedos and the old classic Liquorice All Sorts.
Lions Sweets
As I said above my Dad’s favourite was fruit salads and midget gems. These two along with wine gums are extremely popular and are not going to disappoint anybody. These jelly sweets are made by a few different brands including Kingsway and Maynards but for Father’s day you have to go with Lions which in our opinion are superior to the rest.
Fudge and Toffee
Vanilla fudge is a classic present to get your Dad but we have so many quirky flavours of fudge here at Retro Sweet Kings that your Pops will be impressed by. We have Jaffa Cakes, Jammy Dodger and Liquorice Allsorts fudge amongst many others and there’s bound to be one that could be Dad’s new favourite.
If it’s toffee he likes then you don’t need to look any further than the delicious Thornton special toffee which we sell in quantities of 200g up to 3kg.
Dad likes Chocolate more than Sweets?
If sweets aren’t your Dad’s thing and he’s more into chocolate, then we recommend Toblerone or Dairy Milk. You can get either of these in one of our uniquely designed Father’s Day gift boxes. Plain Dairy Milk or a fruit and nut or wholenut twist, all Dad’s love Dairy Milk.
Looking for something a bit different?
Most Dad’s love Beer and what better sweet gift to give that one that looks and tastes like beer! Pint pots aren’t for everyone but if your Dad can’t get enough of that beer taste these would make a fun and tasty treat.
